To be honest I'm still in disbelief this year is over. Not because it went to fast but the fact nothing went wrong. What I mean by that is that when i started the year I wasn't good enough to make a living playing poker online and I finished up $99k. This year I sought out coaching, learned what I needed, then improved my game to be able to compete in just about any turbo tourney. With cautious support from my dad, and after many months of my mom in her dream world thinking this was just a phase and would pass, to the public misconception that you cannot win at gambling, I succeeded. It did come with a scare with 3 very poor months back to back to back after I had just signed an lease on a much more expensive place then my place before it. Yet I hung on just to go on and have 2 of the best months of my life in Texas. I look back on everything I have done this year in disbelief. I have won 2-PCA Packages, 1- $109 turbo, 2- $25 turbo, and many smaller ones. Along with a 2nd in a $109, 3rd in a $109 2nd chance non-tubro (I forgot I knew how to play those!), and many many other close calls. This year I went out and accomplished my dream that I have had since I was 14. Best part, not to be mean but just honest, my dad straight out told me only a few people in the world can do that (play poker for a living) and to not get my hopes up. 7 years later and now I'm making new dreams to one day cross off my check list. Happy New Years everyone wish you all gl in 2011. Here is my 2010 breakdown.

Vegas nad PCA #2

I just took my first trip to vegas! It seemed so familiar for being somewhere that intimidating. It probably helped that I have learned all the odds and perfect strategy for almost every game in the casino, or it could have been that I worked as a dealer for a year and a half, but in the end it was definitely watching all of the travel channel's shows having anything to do with vegas. I just love how someone can be like hey I'm going to ... tomo want to come, and be able to just do it. The particular reason I was in vegas to find a house to live with a few other grinders. So that's happening, but even more fun I won a 2nd PCA package good for $1002 cash and 14,778 T$, so I pretty much made 50% of what I made all year in 2 days so that was awesome. I'm going to have a very busy month and a half coming up. I'm travelling back to Wisconsin for the holidays then going out to the PCA for over a week. Then right when I come out driving out to vegas to live for at least 1 year. I'm hoping to move in before the PCA but prob won't happen. Also I'm 3,500 vpp's away from 200k and a $3,400 bonus so that's happening before the end of the weekend. It'll be a very hectic time but all positive and so many great things to look forward too!

Hey everyone, sorry I have been neglecting my blog. It'll be my new years resolution to get better at blogging. But anyways I have been grinding pretty hard to get things ready for vegas, and today had my best day yet! I shipped the 33 Euro turbo good for a little less than 190 Euros and then 3 minutes later won a $15k PCA PACKAGE! So I'm super excited. I will be selling 50% of myself if anyone is interested. This last month I went to a wedding in Orlando, partied in uptown Dallas, spent a weekend in Houston , and partied some more at home. So ive been working hard and having a great time. Now the goal is to get a few good days of grinding in, go back home to see my friends and for the holidays, and get ready for Vegas and the PCA. So much stuff to do over the next month but it will all be worth it! Gl as aways.

So to add to my rungood this month I took 2nd in the $109 Turbo for $12,642.45! I had him barely out chipped when I got A7o vs KQo sweated 4 cards only to see a river King. For a minute it hurts pretty bad, even though you still won over 12k. Time for a little celebration and then back to the grind!

Had a good day, enjoying life!

So I have been in Texas for 22 days now and loving it. It's great to be able to talk about poker everyday. Also way more motivating to wake up and see someone else grinding. Pretty much takes out the ehh do i want to play today, meh maybe I'll play in an hour or two. But now it's damn I'm already being out grinded today, cannot let that happen. Another positive note is when your running good it makes it just that much more fun. Which brings me to my next point. I had a $2,500 day including a $36 win and a few other 180 man wins. With these wins I have surpassed my previous highest point... 12,500 games ago. It has been 3 months and a long grind but once again proving to myself I am a winning poker player, and just need to always look to improve. To help this upswing continue in poker and life, I have decided to start working out after a year or two of slacking off. First day was yesterday and oh boy was it a disaster. Ran a half a mile before throwing up, I'm sure it was all the heats fault and none of my own. It will be a long journey but it will be worth it! I just need to keep making +EV decisions in cards and at life, and it starts 1 step at a time. As always good luck at the tables, and keep making good decisions.

So every time I grind with Bigboy592 we like to look for the donkalicious play of the day. Rules for this is you must win the hand and it must be absolutely rediculous showing just how terrible some players are. This is for sure a top 3 donkalicious play of the day.

Changes and winning!

First off sorry for not writing forever. The truth is 180 mans are harder and it's disappointing. Don't get me wrong they are still beatable, however when your use to making $5/game only making a $1 or 2 for the amount of time they take is frustrating. Due to the amount of regs in these games I have decided to move to low stake mtt's a few months earlier than schedule... First day I grinded only mtt's I took down a $4 1000 ppl capped for $750 and about 512 tlb's. An hour later I took down a $11 25k guarantee for $4400ish and 1000ish tlbs. It's the start of coming out of my downswing. The positives of grinding low stake mtt's is the skill of the competition and the tlb's. The lows is volume and rakeback. So after grinding low stakes sngs to guarantee I made enough to pay my bills it's nice to have a good night and give my bankroll some breathing room. It was tough to drop down stakes and grind out $6 sngs, but hey it pays for rent and rule #1 of playing poker for a living is making the right decisions to protect your bankroll. I've learned so much about how to treat future investments and gifts to myself, but most importantly how to take a look at my situation swallow my pride and grind out a living.

Important changes! I'm moving down to texas to grind with bfizz11 and take full advantage of my upswing. And for anyone who has not heard bfizz11 is starting a comprehensive coaching program to help coach any player of any skill level to take full advantage of their potential. I will be coaching a session or 2 a week starting very soon. If anyone who reads this does not know who bfizz11 is... you need to check out his site and give him an email about his new coaching program. To survive in this always changing poker world, one must keep working on their game. Even after all the wins I have posted I still pay for coaching myself to stay on top of my game.

I'll be blogging more. Sorry for the lack of writing but its hard to write about how much less impressive my results have been since May. Even if I can't blog about how shitty it is going I'll find some other topic. So gl everyone keep playing and improving and definitely check out I will soon be showing how in 1 week I went from break even to making several dollars a game, and playing for a living!

Blown out in minnesota (coaching update as well)

I only played 2 tournaments in Minnesota and ran into a few difficult spots and couldn't pick up a cash. First tournament built up a big stack ran QQ into KK for 75% chips oh well. Then shoved A9s from the CO with 12 BB got called by KQs gg in 15th. Second tournament $550 buy in, I built up a good stack again and then ran into this hand. AA from the SB blinds 100/200 with 25 ante had about 25k stack. UTG +1 raises to 800, UTG + 3 calls, I raise to 2850. UTG +1 calls, UTG +3 folds. Flop is KhKd3d, and I lead out for 350, UTG+1 ships about 25k over to put me all in. I think for like 1 min. and decided such a ridiculous raise like that signifies a flush draw or a pair of jacks based on previous hands played with this guy. (Side note any time a player in this tournament had this strong of a hand they slow played it to the max). And decided to call. He shows Kh3h couldn't hit runner runner flush or an ace gg. Whatever I never put him on k3s there so well played I guess.

*Coaching update. Due to the time I have been putting into the hand histories 30-40min/ HH I have decided I need to raise the price 50%. I'll accept any hand histories before Tues. at the original price. There is also a good chance I will be starting my own training site in a few weeks so I'll post any updates about that here. Keep grinding and GL at the tables.

Canterbury Park

So at about midnight Austin and I are heading out to Canterbury Club. Which is a horse racing and poker room 350ish miles away from where I live in Minnesota. Why do we go all the way there? Well for many reasons, first being Austin still isn't 21 so he can't play in Wisconsin. Second being it is our favorite card room. It has everything best service, best dealers, size is good, and great promotions. The complaint is it's strictly limit hold'em cash which I'm terrible at. However their tournaments are great. The majority players are worse than the $2 180 players. How about an example. So about 15 players left in a tournament only 9 get paid. Avg. stack size is roughly 6-8 BB. I have shoved all in the last 7 out of 8 hands. On the next hand I shove again from the hyjack (happen to have AQo but i'm shoving like 40-50% here since they plays so tight). Folds around to BB and he thinks for about 2-3 min. before folding 77 face up with only 6 BB behind and says I think I might have had you beat. In response I just laugh, so now he really thinks he had me crushed. But still the point is they are soooo tight and the structures are so fast it's amazing. So hopefully one of us will get another one of these pics.
(The hand I described is same tourny as this pic. Another side note 3rd place finish basically cried when I knocked her out long story but it's funny to see a 30-40 yr old women cry about losing such a small poker tourny.)

Coaching Update

So I have decided to start up a slightly different approach to coaching. I will now be accepting hand histories for me to take a look at. For each hand history I will note the positive plays and poor plays. I'll note what the proper range for a push or call that might have been misplayed, as well as any other important notes. I will note the regs and their ability as well. Also will be available on aim or email for any further questions you might have on a particular review.

Pricing: $10/ 1 review, $90/ 10 reviews $170/20 reviews, and any more than that contact me.

Contacts: Email: AIM Sn: smrtotalwar Skype is down temporarily will twitter on my blog when up. Any questions or comments are welcomed.

Going through a tough spot

So for the last almost 3500 games in 180 mans I have been on a slight downswing. It has been so hard to just continue playing my game. Constantly questioning if I'm making the right plays. But it really just comes down to variance. For instance yesterday I final tabled at least 10 180 mans, and managed to take nothing higher than a 4th. I took so many bad beats and was running into tops of ranges when shoving my bottoms. Every time I got it in as an underdog I found myself checking the play and every time the math said the play was correct. So I guess I just have to keep sealingup leaks but most importantly continue grinding. After the results I have been having it is definitely a grind.

To busy to post!

Sorry all for the delayed posts, but I have had a few weeks of family and personal affairs to take care of. A week and a half ago, I met up with my extended family in the florida keys, key largo to be exact. A weekend of snorkeling and drinking. It's always a party with my dads side of the family. While snorkeling my brothers and I were checking out this 8ft ish nurse shark (so my uncle called it). And then one of my brothers started talking to me... he ended the conversation in the middle of the water by shouting idiot your standing on the shark. And sure enough the current had moved me right above the sharks head. So a furiously swam to a safer distance. Point of the story is crazy stuff always happens on family trips and the Florida keys are beautiful check it out. The month of June for me was very trying. I had a terrible run down about 6.5k till the last two days of the month, and had nothing fun to blog about except my students huge run. The 28th was the day I flew in from Florida and found out it was turbo night and had to play. BAM! 7k plus some bonuses and coaching fees. Ended up decent for June but July and August need to be better or I will not be able to afford the sweet new apartment I just moved into. So gl everyone and pics of the apart and graphs will be apart of my next post or 2. I still currently do not ahve a digital camera but work something out.

Epic Fail

Day 99 of my 100 days, and things have not gone to plan. I have learned a lot from this challenge to myself. One of which poker is not an easy living. The money can be great but the time, effort, and stress to make that money is overwhelming at times. In the last month I have been on my first official rough patch and man is it difficult. So many factors make it hard to push through such as not wanting to play as much, pressure of making the same amount of money I have been making, and of course tilt. Way to much tilt. I know I will come out of it, partially because I believe in my decisions I have been making as well as my student who is improving every day and now making good money of his own. If he's winning off my teachings today I certinaly can get past this down swing and look forward to the positives of playing poker for a living once again. So here are the numbers and unless I win basically every tourny I enter tomorrow I will not reach my goal.

Where to begin... Well may sucked. I put in so many hours and just got killed in scheduled's. To unwind I took a trip with my brothers and lunchbox and his brother to Cedar Point. If you don't know what it is you clearly don't like amusement parks. Top Thrill Dragster enough said. Going on a Tuesday early in the season with 30% chance of thunderstorms equals VIP treatment. The biggest lines we saw were on the freeway. Also today I'm going to sign a lease to rent out a pretty sweet condo. 2 story, 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath, oh yeah and did i mention it has a hot tub on the roof over looking the city. Pics up in July when i move in. It's only 5X more expensive then my current apartment. Due to amount I have to put up front, since poker isn't a the type of job title landlords like to see, I'll be sticking to mainly sngs this month.

Quick update

Today I woke up late and decided to play a short session so I can party it up at a bonfire tonight. Somewhat of a celebration, since tomorrow I will reach Supernova for the first time. I only need about 2200 more vpps. Easy to do in a long sunday grind. This month I've been crushing sngs but am currently on a 9k downswing in scheduleds (graphs will be up later). It is very frustrating but nothing more. There is so much variance in big mtts and it's very possible to downswing for quite a bit longer. Only 1 thing to do. Keep playing and keep making good decisions.

71 days in

So my computer is having problems, and shutoff 5 times while grinding yesterday, so I'm not going to play anymore poker on this set up. But my new computer is being built while I write. I should be good to go in a few hours. Until then here is the update of 71 days. I have not played nearly enough games in the last 71 days but who knows I have a few sundays left to ship a big tournament. Otherwise I'm happy that I have averaged $475.31/day during this challenge, including the days I was out having fun and not playing. Overall I'm lazy. The whole point of this challenge I made for myself was to force myself to grind and grind and oh yes more grinding. Oh well so here are the numbers, and fuck my stupid decision to play hyper-turbos in April.
So 29 days left $66,253 to go GL me. I won't be to disappointed if I get to 60k at the end of the 100 days.

Monday, May 10, 2010

Back on track

So after a failed experiment with hyper turbos, I'm back in full swing. Took down the $27.50 turbo for just over 5k. I now have won it twice this year, plus a third, plus many other cashes. I swear they are easier then 12$ 180 mans.

Now for an up date I am 67 days in and only round 26k. I hardly played any of my regular games in April which was probably a mistake but i still have 37 days left, and plenty more scoop events. A lot of work left to do in May.

Sunday, May 2, 2010

So close

So after a very slow month of poker I got ready for SCOOP. And after last Sunday I was ready for a big win. I had several cashes today then a disappointing 4th in a $8 tourny. And I just busted the 6 max $215 event in 54th with 99 vs aa in the blinds. I mean god damnit. I feel like the poker god(s) are just toying with me. 2 close calls for the 6 figure score in 8 days so close. Once of these days I will take down a big Sunday tourny. Till then I will try and piece my soul back together after getting it crushed today. As far as my goal I'm way behind I'll update exact numbers in a later post.

Sunday, April 25, 2010

Ya so i just lost the biggest flip of my life, and need to let off steam. AQo vs 99 for top 15 stack in the sunday million with 120 ppl left. FUCK this sucks also lost a flip a little before that 88 vs AKo for a top 20 stack with around 130 ppl left. IK IK its just poker but ugh when theres so much money on the line its tough to get use to. Alright bitching time is over time to win the last 4 tournies I've got for tonight.

Partying, TSO, and Airsoft wars

So over the last week poker has been non existent (even though I feel the itch to play every day), mostly because of all of the fun activities I have planned. It's hard not to get lazy when in 2 months of playing poker I made more money then I did in a year and a half working part time as a black jack dealer. Last week was spent in a haze of heavy partying in PA, while visiting a good friend of mine. I got to see kid cudi and snoop dogg in concert there but really cant remember to much of it. I just remember it being a damn good time. So I got back home and what do I do play a few hours each day then just go ehh I'll play more tomorrow. Plus today I'm busy. I'm going to take a few friends to see the Trans-Siberian orchestra concert tonight, one of my absolute favorite music groups. Then Friday will be spent airsofting with some friends followed by a bonfire. Long story short I've fallen way behind on my goal not due to a downswing, but because I need to make at least $1,000 a day just to stay on pace. So hopefully Saturday I'll get back into the groove and starting looking towards SCOOP. Anyways check these bad boys out just ordered them the other day. Thank you poker for allowing me to drop $2,000 on something completely ridiculous like ...

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

Road Trippin

I'm going out to Phili for a few days to visit a good friend and party. I just love long drives (about 14hrs) and I don't really know why. It'll be nice to get a change of scenery, it gets boring doing the same day to day. That's one of the reasons I play poker, the freedom it gives me to just go wherever you want, whenever you want, and do whatever you want.

So these are the numbers on my goal so far (and the number of games is a complete coincidence) but after 35 days I'm sitting at $28,015 so about 7k behind. I still have plenty of work to do but I'm pretty satisfied about my game.

Thursday, April 8, 2010

Still shaking

Today my friends came over to hangout while I sit on my ass all day and try and make some money. It really helps the day go by. Then to win the $109 turbo for $12,618 with a several fans cheering me on was the best ever. So much adrenaline flowing with all of the excitement, that has been lasting for the last few hours till now. For an update about my 100 days 100k goal, I'm at $23,750ish over 29 days. So I'm only 5k off track, still doable. I just shall keep putting in the time.

Break even stretch

Lately I have not been running to great. The beats have been brutal and 1000 games later and I still have not made a profit. I guess I should be happy I haven't lost to much. But really I look at is I have fallen far behind my goal. In result of several poor sessions I have been somewhat discourage, contemplating my shove, and just have been playing less. Tomorrow I'm going to my first Brewers game of the season I'm hoping it's the recharge I need so come Wed. I'm ready to start crushing it, and until then GO BREW CREW!

I'm the biggest fish ever!

On avg. I spend 12-14 hrs playing on pokerstars for full work days and 4-5 hours on relaxing days the last few months. And great surprise today I just figured out how to change the color of my notes. I always knew that was possible but never knew how to do it. And today it just hit me, OHHH!!!! thats how you do it. I mean come on I say I do this for a living and can't even figure out a simple feature on pokerstars. I"m such a fish...

April's foolishness was a great way to start April even though it never worked out. I won a $1 rebuy for just over 1k, fun stuff. But as I kept playing I kept making it deep only to wind up getting 4 outered in the nightly 100k. aq vs 74 on a board on q53. currently 13th outta 69 and he had just about as many chips as me. I bet he calls and hits a miracle turn of a 6. We get it in and ... yeah. As I get knocked out of that tourney as well as many other deep runs that came up short today, I went into a rage I have never experinced from poker before. I have in hockey, soccer, football, and paintball but never poker. I just started throwing everything on my desk kicking my chair, punched a wall, almost destroyed everything. Thank god my friends were over to calm me down and remind me I am a good poker player. I WILL GET THE 10k+ score again ( i haven't had a plus 10k score since july 2009 and that's when i sucked at poker) even though I thought I was a champ. So I am reminded that this April I will crush 180 mans and give my shot for some big scores with some mtt's which I feel very confident in my game (couldn't say that 2 weeks ago). So what do you do when you have a bad day. Cope! (I cope by drinking most of the time) not something I'm proud of but hey comes with the territory. So whatever works for you. Gl at the tables, stay positive, and put those hours in!

What happens after a 7k day

Well not to much of a surprise the last few days have not gone to well. Which led to frustration which led to less playing, and that is never good. To continue with the disappointments I took 2nd in a $50 hyper turbo heads up losing with ak vs aq by straight on the river. (sigh $1,500 suckout) Few hours later I find myself flipping for a 3rd place chip stack with 10 players left in a $33 mtt, couldnt hit and was shortly out in 10th. There goes $4,500 and some need monthly tlb points to break the top 10. Tomorrow will be a relaxing day just going to shoot for 100 180 mans. Then Thursday brings another tlb race bring it on!

Thursday, March 25, 2010

Finally Final Tabling

I had an amazing day today first off I crushed the 180 mans even though I could have finished better. 2- 2nd's in $36's was great but disappointing but these numbers look pretty good..And for the best part two final tables! 4th in the $5 turbo for about $1,400 and 3rd in the $109 2xchance for $4,500 making the grand total $7,127 for the day in 204 games.

I also got my first shinny star today and lovin it. And for the day 15 grand total $14,785 just $215 shy of on pace. I'm thinking I'm going to put in a lite day tomorrow but who knows anything can happen.

100k in 100days

Hello everyone. I finally decided to make a blog about my life as a pro poker player and accomplishments. So 13 days ago I decided to try and work my ass off to make 100k in 100 days and blog about the journey. So far I've been crushing 180 mans but running horrible and playing worse in mtts. So as it stands I'm up $ 7,804 with plenty of time. I have decided to stop trying to win the monthly tlb on pokerstars and just focus on 180 mans I hope I can keep running so hot. Here are the official stats so far...
